Taking Part in Archery

Have you ever wanted to have a go at archery?

Would you like archery at your event?

In the community

At Harrogate Archery we attend a number of local events each year, for example the Northern Shooting Show at Harrogate showground, Tockwith Show, Boroughbridge & Aldborough Show plus a number of school events. We don’t just put a bow in your hand, we actually teach you some of the basics on how to handle a bow safely and have some fun at the same time.

At our own facility

We can also hold events at our own ground at Allerton Park. Scout groups, Young Farmers, Women’s Institute, and commercial businesses have taken advantage of this facility over recent years. There is a reasonable charge for this, all equipment is provided and Archery GB registered coaches will run the events.

Learn to shoot

We usually run several Archery GB-approved beginners’ courses each year. Courses are outdoors at our Allerton Park ground or indoors at a local school, depending on the time of year.

Courses are relaxed and fun and comprise four weekly sessions coached by Archery GB-qualified coaches assisted by experienced archers. All shooting and safety equipment is provided.

At the end of the course you will:

  • be able to shoot a recurve bow using barebow and freestyle techniques
  • have a sound knowledge of basic technique, safety and etiquette to the level required to join a club
  • receive a certificate of attendance which can be used to join any archery club in the UK
