What Next? After you have completed a beginner’s course and joined the club, what are the next steps on your archery journey? Hire a bow from the clubAfter your beginner’s course it is strongly recommended that you hire a club bow for a few months before you buy your own. Badge AwardsAs an incentive to archers to continue to challenge themselves on the shooting line, there are three sets of badges, covering Portsmouth, Frostbite and 3 dozen (A.K.A. the 252 scheme) rounds. Club KitA range of club clothing is available from our suppliers, Motif8. Click here to visit the club shop. Shoot some scoring roundsRather than just “shooting some arrows”, it is a good idea to score a round from time to time. This will help you to measure your progress against yourself and others. Shooting recognised rounds also allows you to get a handicap and a classification. This link shows the various options for rounds at shorter or longer distances and more or fewer arrows so there is something appropriate for everyone. Enter a competitionThere are lots of competitions available to enter. Before their first one most people are concerned that they “aren’t good enough” – this is not true. It is all about participation rather than prizes. If you would like to go to a competition but aren’t sure about it then ask around at the club and someone will be able to discuss it with you.
